So today and pretty much every year on this date, a few very kind citizens of the town bring in pizza and snacks for the PD/FD. Always find that nice that there are people out there that are thankful for what we do. Not everyone out there realizes it but those that do definitely share their kindness. Still weird to think this happened 7 years ago :(
So on September 10th 2001, the day before, I had gotten off work (worked at South Station, a train station in Boston as a cell phone rep) and Amy had come up from her school to visit me. So some of her friends and I walked around the city that night for a lil bit. Odd thinking that was the last normal day that we would have. Thankfully I didn't work the next day cuz it would have been chaos! I had school and was commuting down to school and had heard on the radio what had happened and then had to go to class. When I got out of class they had giant screens up in the cafeteria showing the buildings collapsing. At that point, they told everyone that the campus was being shut down and those that didn't have to stay, to go home. So I went home, worried about Amy and how she went to school near the city then went to pick her up that afternoon. We came home and just watched footage all night about it and we were just awestruck at how every channel had coverage of this horrible disaster.
May those that perished never be forgotten.
